An Overview Of Yamaha NP-31 Piano

I've been looking for a digital piano that I could use in my home studio, and I wanted something with realistic sounds and tried to hook it up to my computer and record on the side. Finally, I came across the Yamaha NP-31 at Sweetwater Sound, and it was perfect! The NP-31 is a mid-level instrument with many features of more expensive models without any sacrifice in quality or realism. The keyboard feels great under your fingers and has weighted keys responsive to every touch, so you can play as softly or as forcefully as you want and still get an accurate response from the instrument.

The controls are easy enough for beginners to learn quickly and offer plenty of options for more advanced. The NP series also has a line that allows you to play along with music from your computer, iPhone, iPad, or any other device that can output an audio signal. You can even use this for karaoke by hooking up the headphone jack to a microphone and playing along with your favourite tunes.

The speakers output the sound clearly but don't provide enough volume for larger venues. For that, you can hook up an external speaker or amplifier using the 1/4" input jack. Yamaha's NP line also has a USB port that allows direct connection to your computer without going through any external interfaces or transducers. The NP-31's split keyboard feature is a great way to play both piano and bass simultaneously.

It comes in particularly handy for playing live gigs, especially since you can hook up an external amplifier or mixer with ease. You can even play two different sounds on each side of the instrument. For instance, I was able to play a bass sound with my left hand and a trumpet sound with my right. I was also impressed by the NP-31's ability to play styles. There are 150 different styles built into this instrument, ranging from rock to Latin to country music. With over 100 additional voices, you will have all the sounds you need for any musical genre. It is helpful because the NP-31 cannot load other voices, styles or sounds.

The Yamaha NP-31 review also includes an automatic rhythm feature with over 300 different rhythms that you can play along to. It makes it great for practising at home or warming up before a performance. I only came across one area where the NP-31 could use some improvement. The included pedal is a bit stiff and takes some getting used to. But it does the job and can be replaced with a better quality pedal if desired. All in all, the Yamaha NP-31 is a grand digital piano that offers everything you need for years of dependable use.

With nearly 800 different sounds to choose from, this instrument can handle any music. It's effortless to use and even easier to transport since it weighs only 13 pounds! If you are looking for a simple instrument to operate with all the bells and whistles, you may need, this is the digital piano for you. Overall, Yamaha's NP-31 is an excellent digital piano that would make a great addition to any home studio or live performance setup.
